Byzantine chain mail pendant

This pendant is in the same weave made with the same sized jump rings as my Oxidised Byzantine bracelet that I uploaded pictures of a few days ago. It is made from the single motif which, when repeated and lengthened, would end up as a bracelet or a necklace (or, if you can't stop, a belt!). The motif has been hung on thin leather thong, the end of which have been finished with sterling silver coils and joins with a sterling silver clasp.

Chain mail is sometimes surprising - it can create a piece that looks heavy and substantial but that remains light enough to wear in a piece of jewellery you might not want too much weight in. This particular pendant is light without being lightweight.

This Byzantine pendant has an elegant medieval look but would look equally as good with modern dress! I find mine is great to wear with a casual everyday outfit but is smart enough for an evening out...
